Saturday’s event was a great kick-off to summer clean-ups, with 40 volunteers and valued assistance from the EPD officers, City of Eureka employees, and ECO Eureka. This area, accessed at the foot of Vigo Street, is a regular spot on our schedule, and while we harvested around 2,500 lbs. of garbage it is still encouraging to say that it was in better shape than it was the last time we visited in April. Special thanks to the City of Eureka Community Services staff, who took the lead in arranging a dumpster and made several pick-up runs with their truck to haul the trash back to our staging area. And we can’t say enough about Jason from STIL, who generously provided dozens of wonderful items for our prize drawing!
