Pacout Green Team / Mission/Model/Impact

01Our Mission

Picking up litter creates trash awareness, environmental stewardship, and community ownership. With trash awareness, environmental stewardship, and community ownership, we can start making a positive change.

Pacout Green Team is a group of people who are passionate about the outdoors and nature. We;re passionate about keeping our outdoor spaces free of litter, garbage, and microplastics. We are “Home of the Weekly 60-minute cleanup.” We understand that people have busy schedules. Hosting weekly 60-minute cleanups every Saturday between 9:00am and 10:00am allows people to enhoy their entire weekend while keeping Humboldt County beautiful. Picking up litter is not something you do once or twice a year. It’s a way of life. By creating short and consistent cleanups, it allows other people and organizations to embrace this way of life.

02Our Model

Our model is to keep our cleanups short and consistent. We are believers in making the routine happen routinely. By doing this, environmental stewardship becomes a way of life for all of us.

03Our Impact

Our weekly cleanups have made a huge positive impacts within Humboldt County. Even though we only clean up for 60 minutes and occasionally 90 minutes, the results are 20,000-40,000 lbs of trash removed from our beautiful open space each year. Due to hosting these cleanups every week, we’ve had 100’s of volunteers show up each year. Some people show up for one cleanup, others show up regularly. In addition to picking up trash, we take the time each week to educate our volunteers about the trash we find and the impacts it has on our community, resulting in trash awareness.
