6/1/24 – Post Cleanup Report – Eureka Trash Bash – Del Norte Pier Park
It was a lovely sunny morning at Del Norte Pier Park for another 90-minute Eureka Trash Bash. We were glad to see many new volunteers joining us today. Our cleanup efforts covered Del Norte Pier, the park and dog park areas, along the Humboldt Bay waterline, and both directions of the Eureka Waterfront Trail. We specifically targeted a couple of abandoned camps between Del Norte Pier Park and the Mall, including one with a large burn pile containing various items like clothing, appliances, and multiple propane bottles. It was satisfying to clear that area. Special thanks to Eco Eureka for providing the dumpster, Los Bagels for supplying bagels and cream cheese, Still Humboldt for donating prizes, Humboldt Distillery for contributing three bottles of locally made spirits for our adult volunteers, and most importantly, to all the new and regular volunteers who show dedication to our community and strive to be the change they want to see.
