3/17/18 Post Cleanup Report Samoa Beach Power Poles

23 volunteers, 60 min, 1600 lb. of trash: Welcome to Samoa Peninsula! PacOut Green Team was out in full force, with volunteers working from Vance Ave all the way to the 2 turnouts south of the Bay St. parking area. Items recovered included an oven, a vacuum cleaner, a mini fridge, a 3 wheeler toy and about 1500 lb. of household garbage that irresponsible citizens dumped illegally. The Samoa Peninsula is easily the worst area we work in. We can clean it up one week and the very next week there will be more trash than the previous week. Vance Ave. is the target of a lot of the dumping but the south end of the peninsula gets more than it’s “fair” share of dumping near the Fairhaven community. Huge shout out to Lost Coast Rotaract-Eureka for sponsoring the event and an extra huge shout out to Pacific Shellfish Coast Seafood Division for all of their employees that volunteered and for taking half of the trash to the dump and covering the dump fee! THANK YOU! Big props to all of the volunteers and especially the core group that comes out on the regs!
