2/18/23 – Post Cleanup Report – Arcata Marsh – I Street – Arcata, CA

Cleanup Details: We were very surprised at what we found today. In the beautiful Arcata Marsh we picked up over 700+ needles! This set the record as the most needles picked up at a PacOut Green Team 60 Minute Cleanup and we’ve been doing this since 2014! The Arcata Marsh is a very sensitive wildlife refuge. To find over 700+ needles here was shocking. Keep in mind that were were only here for 60 minutes. That comes out to 12 needles a minute! We also filled our 15 yard dumpster with over 3,000lbs of garbage in 60 minutes. Overall it was a shocking, but very productive cleanup. Thank you to all the volunteers, Council Member Meredith Matthews, and the City of Arcata for all your help with this cleanup.
