4/1/23 – Post Cleanup Report – Eureka Trash Bash – Vigo St.

It’s been almost a year since we’ve been at this location. There were several live camps in this location. This cleanup Eco Eureka, STIL and PacOut Green Team partnered with DHHS for a “Socks for Trash” campaign. DHHS recently had a fundraiser and raised over 1200 socks for the homeless. DHHS was also providing Hepatitis, Tetanus, and COVID shots as well. I don’t think there were any takers for the shots, but we did pass out between 20-30 pairs of socks (1 pair per filled trash bag).

We also have a great volunteer turnout for this event. All our amazing volunteers worked very hard and after 90 minutes we filled the dumpster! With the recent rains, everything was wet and heavy. It made it that much harder to pickup and remove, but we did it. Great job volunteers!

Thank you Eco Eureka for providing the bagels and dumpster. Thank you STIL Humboldt and their team for providing all the gifts for the volunteers at the end and for picking up trash (as usual). Thank you Humboldt County DHHS for the collaboration of “Socks for Trash”.

Support the people, organizations and businesses that protect our beautiful open spaces!
