10/7/23 – Post Cleanup Report – Eureka Trash Bash – Herrick Park N Ride – Eureka Waterfront Trail
Collaborating for a Successful 90-Minute Trash Bash with Eco Eureka and STIL Humboldt
Our recent cleanup event was a huge success, thanks to the combined efforts of Eco Eureka, STIL Humboldt, and our dedicated volunteers. We took proactive measures before the event, delivering trash bags to the homeless community in advance and informing them about the scheduled cleanup. We also informed the community about our Socks for Trash campaign, where every filled trash bag earned a new pair of socks.
On the day of the event, we were impressed by how many filled bags the homeless community had already filled. We also encountered larger items such as broken generators, box springs, and pallets that were set aside for us to take. This allowed us to focus our efforts on cleaning up the abandoned camps that were confirmed as abandoned by the homeless community. Despite the large volume of trash, our volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that everything was picked up and disposed of properly.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Eco Eureka for providing a nearby dumpster and using their truck to haul the garbage, as well as to STIL for their support in picking up the trash and providing gifts for the volunteers.
And lastly, we would like to thank our amazing volunteers for their unwavering commitment in keeping our outdoor spaces free from litter and garbage.
Support the people, organizations and businesses that protect our beautiful open spaces!
