Cleaning up Samoa Beach: A Successful Effort

Our team focused on the dunes and roadside for our latest cleanup, as the beach was inaccessible due to erosion and rough ocean conditions. Despite these challenges, we had an excellent turnout, including a new Arcata High School club and our regulars from Fortuna High School Creeks Project. We appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication to the cause. During the cleanup, we stumbled upon two animal grave sites – one occupied by Buster, and the other appeared to be waiting for something to fill it. We left them untouched out of respect. In the past, litter and illegal dumping has been a significant problem at Samoa Beach, but we are happy to report that our recent visits have shown a significant improvement. There was not much garbage to be found, and we are proud of our efforts to keep this beautiful area clean and healthy.
