8/24/24 – Post Cleanup Report – Eureka Waterfront Trail – Old Sears Parking Lot
The cleanup following a night of heavy rain was incredibly successful! Despite concerns about the rain deterring participants, the turnout was impressive. Within an hour, we filled up the dumpster, focusing on clearing litter from the greenbelts near the mall property and the waterfront trail. Special thanks to STIL Humboldt for generously providing gifts for our volunteers. A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who braved the rainy weather the night before and remained committed. However, there was an observation about Walmart’s carts being mismanaged. Numerous Walmart shopping carts were discovered scattered in the green areas, some even used as firepits. It’s essential for businesses like Walmart to better manage their carts placed outside to prevent such issues.
We are always grateful for the donations we receive to support our cleanup efforts. We welcome raffle items for our volunteers and donations towards our cleanup fund. If you have small denomination gift cards you’d like to donate ($10), please email us at pacoutgreenteam@gmail.com.
