10/5/24 – Post Cleanup Report – Eureka Trash Bash – Hikshari Trail
It was a stunning Saturday morning when Los Bagels generously donated a massive bag of bagels along with an assortment of cream cheese flavors. This treat provided everyone with the energy needed to fill the dumpster over the next 90 minutes! A heartfelt thank you to Los Bagels for their kindness. Eco Eureka supplied the dumpster and city support, while STIL contributed all the prizes, ensuring that everyone felt like a winner after the cleanup. In just 90 minutes, we managed to completely fill the dumpster! Additionally, we safely removed over 750 syringes from the waterfront trail.
We also discovered evidence of syringes being dropped off in bulk and left unattended along the waterfront trail, with no syringe waste containers.
A big thank you to all the incredible volunteers who stepped up to make a difference. We are on the verge of reaching our goal of collecting 1,000,000 pounds of trash, currently standing at 995,130 pounds collected since we began this initiative 10 years ago!
Support the people, organizations and businesses that protect our beautiful open spaces!
