11/16/24 – Post Cleanup Report – Carlson Park – Arcata

We want to begin by highlighting the significant improvements in Carson Park since the addition of new trails, a children’s park, pickleball courts, and a parking lot. Plus this park is monitored by John Shelter and his crew at New Directions. There were zero live or abandoned camps discovered in Carson Park! While we collected approximately 1,000 pounds of trash in and around the area, it was surprisingly difficult to locate. This cleanup also included two mattresses we retrieved from the Mad River. We had several newcomers join us today, and we extend our gratitude to all the volunteers who participated! Next week, we will shift our focus to the Samoa Bridges between Eureka and the Samoa Peninsula.
