6/6/26 – Post Cleanup Report – Eureka Trash Bash – Vigo St.
🌟♻️ Another Successful Eureka Trash Bash! ♻️🌟
What an incredible day of community service, teamwork, and impact!
Today’s cleanup at Vigo Street, next to MOD Pizza, focused on an important access point connecting to the Eureka Waterfront Trail. While the area is currently home to several active encampments, our vision is to help create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming gateway for everyone who wants to enjoy the trail and Humboldt Bay. 💚🌊
Our volunteers tackled a large, verified abandoned campsite and removed a tremendous amount of garbage and debris from the area. We also extended our cleanup efforts all the way out to the Waterfront Trail, making a noticeable difference throughout the corridor.
One particularly encouraging moment came when a member of the unhoused community joined us and helped clean around their camp, removing several bags of trash. In appreciation, we provided them with one of our PacOut Green Team Survival Backpacks filled with food, hygiene supplies, cooking gear, first aid items, clothing, and other essentials for outdoor living. We believe that protecting our environment and supporting people can go hand in hand. 💚
A special thank you to Eureka Mayor Kim Bergel for joining us and helping clean up this important area.
✨ Special Thanks To:
🎁 Jason and Jen from STIL for donating prizes so every volunteer went home a winner
🏙️ City of Eureka for their continued partnership and support
🥯 Los Bagels for donating bagels and cream cheese
🌯 In-N-Out for surprising our volunteers with two trays of breakfast burritos
We left the area cleaner than we found it, protected our waterways from thousands of pounds of debris, and shared a great morning with some incredible people.
