10/31/26 – Post Cleanup Report – McKinleyville 90 Minute Trash Bash
ππͺ ANOTHER AMAZING CLEANUP IN McKINLEYVILLE! π§Ήβ»οΈ
What an incredible day for our community! We brought a 20-yard dumpster to McKinleyville, and we absolutely FILLED it β and then some!
We had excellent representation from THREE different high school groups, with students traveling from Eureka, Arcata, and Fortuna High Schools to help make McKinleyville cleaner than we found it. Thatβs community pride in action! β€οΈ
Our volunteers spread out all over McKinleyville to tackle:
- ποΈ Free piles and illegal dumping sites
- β»οΈ Abandoned trash and debris
- π More than 40 tires!
- π² Trash and abandoned camps in the greenbelt right across from our meetup location.
Getting those abandoned camps cleaned up before the rainy season was especially important. Once the rains arrive, that greenbelt gets pretty swampy, making cleanup much more difficult.
And that’s not all… we even pulled a 10-foot boat FULL OF TRASH out of the woods! π€π€―
Here’s what this amazing group accomplished:
π₯ OVER 4,000 POUNDS OF TRASH REMOVED β±οΈ In just 90 MINUTES! π One overflowing 20-yard dumpster π More than 40 tires collected π Three high schools represented
That’s what happens when a community comes together!
A HUGE thank-you to every student, volunteer, and community member who showed up, got their hands dirty, and made a difference. Your hard work matters, and McKinleyville is better because of you!
McKinleyville appreciates you! β€οΈ
Let’s keep making our communities cleaner, one cleanup at a time!
