PacOut Green Team Adopt-A-Highway | HWY 255 (The Three Bridges)
What a beautiful Saturday morning to be out protecting Humboldt Bay! π
As part of our Adopt-A-Highway program, our volunteers tackled HWY 255, better known as the Three Bridges. This corridor is one of the most important cleanup locations in Humboldt County because anything left along the roadway, shoulders, or bridges can quickly find its way into the bay.
Unfortunately, trash accumulates here regularlyβwhether it’s accidentally blown from vehicles or intentionally discarded. Once debris reaches Humboldt Bay, it can travel to the ocean and remain there for decades, impacting wildlife and sensitive ecosystems.
In just 60 minutes, our hardworking volunteers filled our trailer with nearly 850 pounds of garbage and debris! πͺ
Among the items collected were:
π¬ Cigarette butts
π₯€ Single-use cups and beverage containers
β»οΈ Recyclable materials
π Fast-food packaging and wrappers
ποΈ Debris from an abandoned campsite
ποΈ And plenty more litter destined for the bay
A huge thank you to the 17 amazing volunteers who came out and made a real difference. Every bag collected helps protect our waterways, wildlife, and the natural beauty that makes Humboldt County such a special place to live.
Special thanks to John Onstine for sponsoring our volunteer raffle with two Pierson’s gift cards! ποΈπ
π Please continue supporting the people, organizations, and businesses that invest in protecting our environment and public spaces.
