OVER 300 needles were removed from todays cleanup! We were very excited to clean up this section of property. City of Arcata purchased this chunk of land, leading up to the Arcata Marsh with hopes to turn it into Arcata’s first dog park one day. Most of the garbage we picked up had been there for 4-9 months. This was our 2nd largest cleanup, when it comes to syringe litter.

Cleanup Details:

  • Volunteers: 39
  • Weight: 1800 pounds (estimate), 313 needles, 6 bike tires, 4 bike frames, 5 bottles of motor oil, over 250 rounds of 38 special personal protection hollow point ammo (Speer Gold Dot), 1 pair of bolt cutters, 1 gallon of house paint, other hazardous materials and more!
  • Time: 60 minutes
  • Sponsor:   LACO Associates
